It was a bright and sunny day in Montreal, where many arrived, after traveling from near and far to witness the glorious wedding ceremony between M. David Na and S. Sylvia Foisy.
They married by faith on May 22, 2010, establishing a beautiful house church in the love of God. Many guests from both Canada and the States were there to celebrate this happy occasion with the couple.
We pray for God’s abundant blessing on them based on Genesis 12:2, so that they might be a source of blessing for Canadian campus mission and World mission. May this family be a good influence for many young people in this generation.
We, at Humber UBF, thank God for God’s grace on M. David and S. Sylvia Na. We are particularly happy for M. David who stayed with our chapter before moving to Montreal UBF to join S. Sylvia.
“He is not here; he has risen.”
Praise God who showed his almighty power by raising Jesus from the dead. Praise God for giving each of us His salvation and a living hope in the kingdom of God.
This year, at Humber, we had an Easter Bible workshop on April 2 and 4, and we studied Matthew 27-28. For this workshop, we prepared ourselves by studying about Jesus’ suffering and prayers (Matthew 26) during two Sunday worship services, and by having a gospel key verse recitation contest. There were three different competition groups: 1. Young Disciples; 2. Missionaries; and 3. CBF kids. All winners received a special prize and the rest of the participants received a smaller prize as well. The 1st winners in each group were Mary C. (Young Disciples), Isaac L. (Missionaries), and Hannah P. (CBF).
On Friday, April 2, we began our first day of the Easter Bible workshop with icebreakers (Never Have I Ever and King Elephant), which was led by Mary C. (UTM 3), followed by praise and worship. Next, M. Mercy led a presentation/discussion on the true meaning of Easter based on gospel key verses. This presentation prepared us to open our hearts to hear the message. M. Paulus Cha delivered the message of Jesus who was forsaken on the cross (Mt 27) with God’s Spirit and we accepted Jesus who was forsaken in our place.
During the second part of the workshop, Ian, David, and Abraham sang a well-known hymn, titled, “Lead Me to Calvary”. Mary, Sarah, Grace, and Susanna sang a contemporary song about Jesus’ cross, called “Above All”.
There were 3 testimony sharers that evening. Joe M. (Humber graduate) and Andrew R. (York 1) shared their testimonies based on Matthew 27 and shared the grace of Jesus and desire to grow in the knowledge of Jesus. Sue K. (Humber graduate) shared her testimony on Matthew 26. Even though she recently started Bible study, she already showed sincere desire to grow in God.
On April 4, our second workshop was our Sunday worship service and we heard the message of Jesus’ resurrection based on Matthew 28. We watched a short movie clip about Matthew 28, followed by a spirit-filled recitation of the gospel key verses by M. Isaac L. Our 3 brothers, Joe, Tino, and Andrew offered a special song (In Christ Alone) for the worship service. Tino M. (York 1) shared his testimony with a strong desire to give himself to Jesus, asking for God’s people’s prayer support.
We could all see God working among us and in each one’s heart through Jesus who died and rose again from the dead. We were happy to see God who is living and working himself in his way.
Once again, we learned that the gospel of Jesus is the power of God and the salvation for everyone who believes in Jesus.
Thank God for blessing our Easter Bible workshop abundantly!
May God raise 1 Abraham and 1 Sarah of faith and change Canada to be a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.
1 Cor 15:3,4 “For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures.”
On March 26, 2010, after listening to everyone’s testimony at our Friday Young Disciples Meeting, we had a gospel key verse recitation contest. Seven young disciples (Joe, Tino. Andrew. Sue, Ian, Mary, Abraham) participated in the contest.
There were 3 judges who were responsible for evaluating 3 different aspects of the recitation: speed (Joanna Park), precision (David Lee), and spirit (Isaac Lee). Each contestant had 7 minutes to recite the key verses and the judges were allowed to give hints 5 times in case the contestants forgot the words.
It was quite a challenge for the young disciples because it was their first time memorizing gospel key verses, but everyone did their best and participated with willingness. Afterwards, we added all the points given by the judges. The following were the top three with the highest scores: 1) Mary C. (UTM 3); 2) Tino M (York 1); and 3) Sue K. (Humber graduate). The first winner received a Bible as a prize while the rest of the participants all received chocolates.
Mary was very busy, and at first burdened even to think of gospel key verse recitation contest, but she overcame herself and memorized on the bus back and forth and completed. We also thank God for Ian (Humber 1) who participated by faith even though he never likes memorizing Bible verses.
After the contest, we could see great joy and accomplishment in each person’s heart.
May God bless our young disciples to be deeply rooted in the gospel of Jesus.
May God bless our Easter Bible workshop on April 2 and 4, 2010.
Everyone is welcomed to join this great Easter celebration!
Thank Jesus who died on the cross and rose again from the dead, freeing us from the power of sin and death and giving us the best gift we could ever receive: eternal life.
Let’s celebrate the Risen Jesus, and find hope in Jesus!

M. David Na completed his accounting program last December, and on Mar 3, 2010 graduated from Seneca College. There were many difficulties during his school studies, but he held on to the grace of Jesus and overcame all the situations and completed his study. We thank God for being with him each step of his life.
He is preparing his upcoming wedding on May 22, 2010. It will be held in Montreal, and his bride is Sylvia Foisy. May God bless his house church to be a blessing and good example for many young people and use them for Canada and world mission.
Praise God for our Lord Jesus who died on the cross and rose again from the dead and solved our sin problem.
The USA/Canada Staff Conference 2010 took place in Chicago from the 18th to the 20th of February. Through the main message delivered by Dr. John Jun, entitled “I Am Not Ashamed of the Gospel” on Romans 1:18-32, we renewed our absolute faith in the gospel. When Paul said, “I am not ashamed of the gospel for it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes,” he revealed his faith and confidence in the absolute power of the gospel. Many believers at that time might have felt shame because the gospel was about Jesus who was crucified on the cross as a criminal, but Paul knew this gospel was none other than the salvation for all sinners. There is no way for sinners other than through the cross of Jesus to have salvation.
God helped me to recognize that I have lost absolute faith in the gospel of Jesus, which is the power of God. I had become so much like those Jewish believers who succumbed to their situation and only tried to maintain their personal faith. When I only try to keep myself and my faith, then I strangely start to slowly lose spirit and strength, making up excuses.
Then, instead of participating in the agony and wretchedness of young people’s lives, I was burdened, stressed-out and feel self-conscious in inviting students. This was simply because I had forgotten that the gospel is the only absolute solution for mankind’s sin problem. The gospel is the power of God for salvation and the gospel is the only solution we all need and have. Thank God for helping me to open my eyes to remember the grace of Jesus on my life and renew my faith in the gospel of Jesus.
From Mother Barry’s opening message titled, “Scarlet Cord” on Joshua 2:8-21, we learned Rahab’s faith in the power of God. The Scarlet Cord she hung over her window was the sign of her faith that saved her household. The Scarlet Cord symbolizes our faith in the blood of Jesus.
Dr. Joseph Schafer delivered a message, entitled “The Seed and Fruits of the Early Church” on Acts 2:22-47. There was a special lecture by Dr. Scott Moreau of Wheaton College about “Contextualization.” His lecture was inspiring and enlightening and it helped us to better understand how to serve God’s ministry in North American campuses as Korean missionaries.
There were also 4 track discussions on networking/co-working, discipleship, marital relationship and counseling. There were several special presentations during meal time on several topics: Dr. John Jun’s worldwide travel for directors’ conferences; an invitation to the Latin American Conference; young disciples’ conference report; and Mother Barry’s daily bread book.
After the conference, a new house church was established: there was a blessed wedding between Joseph Kim and Rebekah Oh on Saturday at Millar Chapel on the campus of Northwestern University and was officated by Pastor Mark Vucekovich. Thank God for this new family of God. May God raise many godly families in Canada.
M. Paulus and I also had a wonderful time of fellowship with Dr. Augustine and Theresa Shon who welcomed us in their home and gave us a ride to the wedding and to the airport.
May God continue to strengthen Dr. John Jun to serve world mission work. May God bless each chapter to have a double ministry by 2010. May God bless us to pioneer 561 US campuses, 251 Canadian campuses, and send out 100, 000 missionaries by 2041 and make North America a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.
Hebrew 11: 6 “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him”
Thank God for blessing us for the last year with the grace of Jesus and powerful word of God each week through M. Paulus Cha. We especially thank God for helping M. Timothy Park to overcome his time of trials due to his sickness. He is now at home and goes to the hospital to receive Chemotherapy treatment once a week. May God heal him completely by His almighty power, accepting fervent prayers from God’s servants all over the world. We are very thankful for the many servants of God who pray for him and for his healing continuously.
This year, we want to learn faith that pleases God based on Hebrews 11:6 by fully devoting ourselves in 1:1 Bible study and discipleship ministry.
May God bless the Friday young disciples’ meetings.
Our prayer topics are as follows:
- To serve God’s mission by faith
- Weekly message (Matthew’s gospel) by M. Paulus Cha
- Double ministry and 30 1:1 and 22 S.W.A.
- To raise up 1 Abraham and 1 Sarah from Humber & UTM campuses

Our God is so faithful and wonderful!
He has never failed to be with us and lead us in his grace.
Thank God for blessing each one of us for the last one year despite all our shortcomings and many sins.
On Oct 11, 2009, we had a special Thanksgiving Worship Service and we studied Genesis 37-50, “Joseph’s life of thanksgiving.’
We are strengthened newly to learn from Joseph who had become a slave by his brothers’ jealousy and was sent into prison by evil woman, his boss’ wife, though he did not commit any crime. He could have been filled with so much anger and a spirit of revenge. However, Joseph trusted and loved God.
God was with him and blessed him, and finally exalted him and used him to save many lives. Joseph confessed that God helped him to forget all his troubles and become fruitful in a foreign land. He also confessed that although his brothers intended to harm him, God intended to save many lives through him.
Recently, M. Timothy Park found out that he has leukemia so he went through chemotherapy treatment. He and his wife, Joanna are going through these difficult times in the midst of their life of faith. As coworkers and families in God, we are also participating in their sufferings. At first, we did not know what to think of, but we know that our God is good and he works for the good. May God fill their hearts with the grace of Jesus and faith in God, and grow deeper in faith through overcoming this time of illness.
Chantel Ryan served worship service as the presider and shared her Thanksgiving testimony based on the message. Also, Chantel, Mary, and M. Rebekah S. Lee offered a beautiful song to praise God. Mary and Abraham served sing-along.
Thank God for helping Chantel Ryan, Joshua Kirkland, and Mary Cha to faithfully participate and serve God.
After the service, we all including children enjoyed thanksgiving lunch and had a wonderful fellowship.
May God continue to bless Humber and UTM Campus pioneering work.

Julie Jesmer came to Waterloo for her work, but she extended her stay so that she could visit M. Timothy Park who is struggling with his illness.
On Oct 8, 2009, we had a wonderful dinner fellowship with her. She brought a joyful spirit and she shared her life of faith.
On the following day, she visited Timothy Park at the hospital and prayed for him. Thank God for her love and prayer support for Timothy Park at this time of his struggling.
Thank God for using Sh. Kevin and Julie, who have 5 children, for NIU ministry. Kevin Jesmer was from Winnipeg, Canada, and was sent to USA as a missionary. May God bless them continually with powerful words of God and Jesus’ discipleship ministry.
On Aug. 22, 2009, we held our HBF graduation ceremony at York UBF. Our HBF students are growing in the word of God and spiritual fellowship together. This year, there are 5 HBF graduates. Their names are as follows: Christy Kwon (Mcgill), Grace Chung (Guelph Univ), Samuel Yoon (Queen’s Univ), Paul Han (UTSC), and Jennifer (Ryerson Univ).
After M. Joseph song’s message, 4 graduates shared their life testimonies and prayer topics.
Some shared with tears of repentance. Each one was given a certificate of completion and a gift certificate. Each one was also invited to join HBF as coworkers and assistants.
Thank God for growing our 2nd gen children in the word of God as holy men and women of God in this ungodly society. Thank God for M. Paulus Cha and all HBF teachers who dedicate themselves to pray and serve our 2nd gens. May God continue to bless our HBF service each month and through this, each of our children may grow deeper in the truth of God. May God plant the hope of God in each HBF student.
- GTA & Hamilton Summer Bible Conference (July 2-4), messengers, 150 attendants, messengers, life testimony and symposium speakers
